The town of Pergola is best known for the discovery of the Bronzi Dorati, a gilded bronze sculpture group. The Bronzi Dorati are two (real) couples from the higher circles of Roman society, the lords are proud of their horses and the women are standing next to them.
The statues are dated from about 50 before to 30 years after Christ, the early Imperial period. The statues can be admired in a former convent where the Museo dei Bronzi Dorati and della Città di Pergola are now located. In addition to this museum, there are numerous old churches and a theater in Pergola.
